Iowa high school football Week 11: IHSF schedules, scores & stats The Iowa High School Athletic Association Class 5A high school football playoffs continue Friday with sectional semifinal games. Below is the complete schedule and scoreboard (real-time and final) for Friday's games along with brackets (print, download, share and embed). Predictions on Friday's sectional football games: Brownsburg-Avon, Carmel-Pike and more The high school football sectional tournament really begins in full on Friday night as Class 6A and 5A get started. I was 24-2 on predictions last week to improve to 314-55 (85.1 percent) on the season. Here is a look at all of the scheduled area games with 7 p.m. kickoffs scheduled for Friday night: Hamilton Southeastern (6-2) at Fishers (2-7): No. 10 Hamilton Southeastern defeated Fishers 21-9 on Sept. 11. The Royals have been off for three weeks now because the regular-season finale against Brownsburg was canceled. Maybe the extra time off can be a good thing. HSE 24, Fishers 13. Westfield (8-1) at Noblesville (2-7): Second-ranked Westfield defeated Noblesville 24-10 on Sept. 11 in a game where the Shamrocks rushed for 243 yards, including 135 from Micah Hauser. Noblesville will look to control the ball and limit possessions. The Millers rushed for 177 yards in the previous game against Westfield and attempted just two passes. Westfield 34, Noblesville 14. Pike (3-6) at Carmel (7-2): Pike rallied and nearly took down defending 6A state champion Carmel on Sept. 11, falling 45-44 in double overtime. Can the Red Devils give a similar effort Friday night? That game was the start of a six-game winning streak for sixth-ranked Carmel. The Greyhounds surrendered 466 yards of total offense in that game. Carmel owns a 23-5 overall record against Pike and has not lost to the Red Devils since 1961. Carmel 31, Pike 24. Brownsburg (7-1) at Avon (5-4): Fourth-ranked Brownsburg finally ended a five-game tournament losing streak to Avon last season in a 27-24 thriller over the unbeaten and top-ranked Orioles. That win was muted when the Bulldogs lost in the sectional championship the following week to Zionsville. This should be another good one. Avon lost the regular-season meeting 47-29 on Sept. 11 as Brownsburg rushed for 285 yards. But … the Orioles rushed for 235 yards in that one. Expect some points on both sides and a closer final score. Brownsburg 34, Avon 30. Ben Davis (4-5) at Southport (2-4): The Giants are a big favorite in this four-team field and defeated Southport 50-10 last year in the sectional championship. Ben Davis junior receiver Donell Mason (33 catches, 443 yards, five TDs) has come on in the second half of the season. Ben Davis 41, Southport 14. Perry Meridian (0-9) at Tech (2-6): Perry Meridian has lost 23 consecutive games and has not won a sectional game since 2010. This could be a chance for the Falcons and first-year coach Brett Cooper. Tech’s only wins are over 4A teams – Richmond and Logansport. The Titans have not won a tournament game since 2013. Tech 20, Perry Meridian 18. Lawrence Central (0-9) at Lawrence North (6-3): No. 9 Lawrence North is looking to win a sectional title for the first time since it won three consecutive titles from 1988-90. Up first for coach Pat Mallory’s team is rival Lawrence Central, which played the Wildcats tough in a 28-21 game on Sept. 4. Lawrence North 30, Lawrence Central 13. Warren Central (2-5) at North Central (6-3): North Central won the first meeting 10-0 on Sept. 4, but the Panthers had just 123 yards of total offense in that game. North Central 20, Warren Central 14. Columbus East (7-2) at Franklin Central (1-8): Columbus East is playing up a class for the second year of the two-year classification cycle. Franklin Central’s only victory came in the season-opening game against Perry Meridian. Columbus East 28, Franklin Central 17. Center Grove (9-0) at Columbus North (6-2): No. 1 Center Grove was faced with difficult challenges in its final two regular-season games against Lawrence North and Cathedral. That should help the Trojans going into the tournament. Center Grove 35, Columbus North 7. Harrison (West Lafayette) (6-3) at Zionsville (4-5): The winner here becomes the favorite to win the sectional. These programs have not met since 2013 when they were together in the Hoosier Crossroads Conference. Zionsville 28, Harrison 27. Sectional 13 Plainfield (5-4) at Decatur Central (7-2): Sixth-ranked Decatur Central rolled up 481 yards of offense in a 35-20 win over Plainfield on Sept. 25. Plainfield senior Jack Beebe (27 catches, 324 yards, six touchdowns, 10 rushing touchdowns and 60 tackles) is having an excellent season. Decatur Central 34, Plainfield 27. Cathedral (8-1) at Terre Haute South (2-7): No. 1 Cathedral defeated Terre Haute South 38-14 last season in the sectional. Cathedral 48, Terre Haute South 7. Sectional 14 Franklin (3-5) at New Palestine (7-1): Can fifth-ranked New Palestine, the two-time defending state champions, make another run? Senior Blake Austin (41 catches, 571 yards, six TDs) will certainly play a big role if the Dragons do. Expect this game to be closer than the records might indicate. New Palestine 23, Franklin 16. Seymour (3-6) at Whiteland (7-1): This is a good draw for fourth-ranked Whiteland, which could host New Pal next week. Whiteland 42, Seymour 13. Mt. Vernon (10-0) at Pendleton Heights (7-3): Top-ranked Mt. Vernon’s toughest game of the season was a 27-21 win over Pendleton Heights on Sept. 25. There is a lot of familiarity between these programs. Mt. Vernon 31, Pendleton Heights 21. Western (8-1) at Lebanon (3-4): These teams played in a thriller last season in the sectional with Lebanon winning, 32-31. Lebanon has won three of four after a slow start. Western 33, Lebanon 26.
